Professional Learning Network (PLN)
Every person in the digital world has some sort of network connections to help them stay informed. As an educator, this network can contribute to our professional learning and development. Finding and connecting with a variety of resources in our Professional Learning Network (PLN) can deepen our understanding on topics that interest us as well as be informed on relevant issues or practices. A PLN is like a personally designed Professional Development (PD) that you can attend anytime, and it is full of things specific to you in your field right now. It can be so personalized because it is made by you and can be adapted and changed as your needs or interests evolve.
Just as important as finding topics relevant to oneself is actually participating in the PLN that's been created. PLNs are not just for passive reading but intended to be engaging and connecting. Ask questions. State Opinions. Offer advice. Become a credible resource to those in your PLN.
There are so many resources and virtual ways to connect that now more than every educators can have as much variety of input as they want. Do not limit yourself to only getting perspectives from those in the same building and situation as you. Branch out to the virtual realms of knowledge and find a new teaching strategy.
